Liverpool should forgo signing Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey in favour of strengthening other areas.
Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey looks dejected
Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is the latest to be linked with a summer move to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side this summer, reports ESPN.
The 26-year-old Welsh international has a year left to run on his Arsenal contract and has found his playing time restricted this season, with Granit Xhaka, Francis Coquelin and Mesut Ozil preferred starters.
With the Liverpool midfield roster occupied by the likes of Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, Georginio Wijnaldum and Emre Can, would the addition of Ramsey really improve the Liverpool squad?
The Welshman, of course, has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, spending a good portion of the current season out on the sidelines.
Although Ramsey has shown flashes of genius – a couple of seasons ago when he was scoring for fun, and his sublime performances in Euro 16 are examples – when playing this season he has struggled to find form, scoring no goals and providing only one assist in his 15 Premier League appearances. And Ramsey’s two Arsenal goals this season both came in the FA Cup, against Championship side Preston North End and Conference National League side Lincoln City.
With positions such as left-back, where James Milner has been forced to play out of position, in desperate need of strengthening, perhaps Liverpool’s funds would be better targeted elsewhere – and on a player who is a bit more often match-fit.
