Wayne Rooney has had to settle for a bit part role at Manchester United this season as Jose Mourinho guided the club to a return to the Champion’s League; beating Ajax in Wednesday’s Europa League final.
The Red Devils’ and England record goal scorer has made only 39 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring eight goals and providing 10 assists.
The England international has enjoyed a successful and trophy laden career at Manchester United, winning five Premier League titles, one Champion’s League, one Europa League, one FA Cup and four League Cups.

The 31-year-old looks likely to leave Old Trafford this summer to find regular first-team football, with Everton a possible destination, Sky Sports reports.
If Rooney does return to boyhood club Everton, he would prove to be a valuable asset as Ronald Koeman looks to break into the top-four next season.
His wealth of experience and winning mentality would go a long way to helping the Toffees mount a serious challenge to the top-four contenders and help improve some of Everton’s younger attackers, such as Ross Barkley.

The move would also work out for Rooney himself, as he will have the platform to prove he still has the ability to be a top performer in the Premier League.
An opportunity to sign a player of such calibre and experience is one that should not be passed up lightly, and such a signing could be the difference between challenging for a place in the Champion’s League and settling for seventh.
