The 30-year-old winger has displayed his almost unrivalled talent over the past decade, but unfortunately for him and the teams he has represented, he has not done so on anywhere near a consistent enough level.
The Frenchman has hit the headlines for the wrong reasons on more occasions than he would like, but there is a chance that at the age of 30, he might just have finally matured.
Ben Arfa is incredibly gifted, and possesses tremendous technical ability when in possession of the football. He is quick long the ground, and his direct playing style would add a certain level of potency to the Baggies’ attacking play – something that they have been desperately bereft of over the past few seasons.
The former Newcastle United man has just one year remaining on his current deal at the Parc des Princes, so Pulis might just be able to pick him up for a bargain, with the French giants unlikely to risk losing him for nothing next year.
And if Ben Arfa does end up at the Hawthorns this summer, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for West Brom.
