Paris Saint-Germain talent Warren Zaire-Emery has now been likened to Steven Gerrard amid interest from the Premier League big boys.
Whilst most of the conversation around Paris Saint-Germain surrounds the future of striker Kylian Mbappe, PSG do have other talents.
Midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery is a prime example having become a first-team regular at the age of just 17.
The teenager has even earned a first France call-up and the world appears to be at his feet.
The challenge is for Zaire-Emery to maintain a spot in the PSG first team for years to come – something Christopher Nkunku and Moussa Diaby couldn’t do before shining elsewhere.
PSG talent Warren Zaire-Emery earns Steven Gerrard comparison
One problem for PSG is that Zaire-Emery is out of contract in 2025, meaning he is now in the final 18 months of his contract.
HITC Football understands that the top clubs in Europe – and therefore in the Premier League – would happily sign the teenager and have spoken to his entourage.
However, Zaire-Emery has made it clear that he wants to stay in Paris and isn’t currently looking to move.
There will be fears of Zaire-Emery moving on until a new deal is in place though, even with Nasser Al-Khelaifi confident of an agreement.
Al-Khelaifi has told RMC Sport that he thinks a new deal will be done soon as Zaire-Emery wants to become PSG’s very own Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard spent 17 years in the Liverpool first team, becoming a homegrown hero at Anfield whilst bringing a Champions League trophy to Merseyside.
Zaire-Emery hails from just outside Paris and is a talented midfielder just like Gerrard was, so we can understand the comparison.
Al-Khelaifi called Zaire-Emery an ‘excellent’ player and believes that he could stay at PSG throughout his career.
“I’m confident on new deal for Warren Zaire-Emery. I want him to become PSG’s Steven Gerrard, I want him to stay here forever. He’s from Paris, loves the club. He’s an excellent player but also top guy, he’s an example,” said Al-Khelaifi.
Zaire-Emery is no doubt on the radars of top Premier League clubs but luring him away from the Parc des Princes seemingly won’t be easy.
