PSG are reportedly ready to sell Hugo Ekitike just one year after the French giants beat Newcastle United to the striker’s signature, with Eddie Howe’s side still interested in the youngster.

According to L’Equipe, the Ligue 1 leaders are ready to give up on the 20-year-old attacker after a single season with Ekitike showing no signs of improvement, with the striker failing to break into PSG’s starting XI and to compete with the likes of Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe.

As per the report, Newcastle are still interested in Ekitike having lost out on the forward last summer to PSG, who now look ready to sell on the youngster in a move that could pique Howe’s interest ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Even with four goals in all competitions this season for PSG, Newcastle could be a great move for Ekitike, a club that the youngster arguably should have joined last year amid his ongoing disaster in the French capital.

Indeed, Ekitike could firmly admit that he made a mistake in signing for PSG last summer, and with the club now open to selling the youngster, the striker has a chance to amend that wrong from 2022, with a move to Newcastle potentially the right move for all parties involved.

Moreover, with Newcastle ready to splash the cash this summer, PSG could recoup their wasted funds on Ekitike by selling the forward to the Magpies for the same price the French club signed the striker for from Stade de Reims, a fee believed to be worth around £30m.

Ekitike was once hailed as the next gem of French football and a player who could thrive alongside Mbappe at PSG. However, much like the club’s success this season, the youngster has been a disappointment, and a move to Newcastle could be an embarrassment for the Ligue 1 giants.

As we know, Newcastle wanted Ekitike last summer and could have realistically landed the striker had PSG not entered the race. Yet with the French side now open to selling the youngster, the Toon can make fools out of their soon-to-be European rivals by signing the attacker.
