PSG have reportedly made contact to sign Borussia Monchengladbach prospect Manu Kone, a player Newcastle United have also recently approached.

According to Media Foot, the Ligue 1 giants are interested in a move for the ‘diamond talent’, with Kone establishing himself this season as one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting talents, with Newcastle also hotly on the midfielder’s trail.

Once valued at €35m (£30m), Kone’s price tag is expected to increase this month with bigger and bigger clubs now interested in signing the France youth international, with PSG’s interest certainly set to see Gladbach raise the stakes for their star talent.

As a result, Newcastle could now struggle to sign the 21-year-old, with the Magpies already losing out on a top French talent to PSG since the PIF takeover in Hugo Ekitike, with the Parisian giants landing the striker on loan in the summer transfer window.

Indeed, the Toon will not want another repeat with Kone, and Newcastle could now increase their efforts to sign the midfielder with PSG now in the race, with Eddie Howe seemingly keen on brining top young prospects to the northeast in January.

Indeed, the Toon will not want another repeat with Kone, and Newcastle could now increase their efforts to sign the midfielder with PSG now in the race, with Eddie Howe seemingly keen on bringing top young prospects to the northeast in January.

Yet Kone might now be a task too big for Newcastle, with PSG arguably the most attractive club for any French prospect. And the Ligue 1 side making contact with Gladbach for the 21-year-old could all-but throw the Magpies’ plans out the window to sign the youngster.

As mentioned, PSG are potentially the most attractive club to sign for for any young French player, and Kone is no exception. However, the midfielder might be better off moving to Newcastle given Howe’s impressive record with improving young talents.

A number of Premier League players and many of Newcastle’s current crop have benefited hugely from Howe’s coaching. And for Kone, the youngster could become the English coach’s latest development project should the midfielder decide to move to Tyneside rather than Paris.
