PSG are reportedly keen to beat Newcastle United to the signing of Brazilian youngster Andrey Santos, who looks set to move to Europe in January.
According to Le 10 Sport, the Magpies remain in the lead to sign the Vasco de Gama wonderkid. However, PSG remain well in the race, with the French giants not ruling out making a late swoop for Santos should Newcastle look to make the finishing blow to bring the Brazilian to the Premier League.
The 18-year-old midfielder is regarded by many as one of Brazil’s most exciting prospects, with Santos a regular for Vasco this season as interest continues to mount for the South American prospect, with Le 10 Sport stating that more clubs beyond Newcastle and PSG are eyeing the teenager.
Newcastle have long been viewed as one of favourite to sign Santos. But, interest from PSG could throw Eddie Howe’s plans to add another Brazilian to the squad in January into turmoil, even with the Toon’s impressive record this season in the Premier League.

As per the report, transfer advisor Luis Campos is eager to bring Santos to Paris. And whilst the Brazil U-20 international might favour a move to Newcastle, a spike in interest from PSG could sway the midfielder to head to France instead of the English northeast.
Likened to current Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes as per the report according to experts in Brazil, it is obvious why Newcastle are an ideal choice for Santos in January. However, even with the Toon showing faith in South Americans, PSG’s interest could provide fatal for the Toon’s chances of landing the youngster.
Newcastle must be wary of PSG in race to sign Andrey Santos

PSG’s Brazilian contingent was once one of the most prominent in Europe, and whilst the influence has weakened at the Parisian club in recent years, there’s no denying that players from the South American nation would find a move to the French giants appealing, which is what Newcastle must be wary of.
Indeed, Santos might look like a done deal for many looking from the outside. However, PSG are crafty operators in the transfer window. And ruling out the Ligue 1 champions just yet would be unwise from many pundits, with Newcastle still not completely out of the woods yet for the 18-year-old.
