Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in signing Paris Saint-Germain winger Lucas Moura took another boost on Saturday night, as he was left out of the squad to face Montpellier.
Spurs rarely do January business under Mauricio Pochettino, and that has continued so far this month, with no new incomings despite some patchy performances.
Fans are keen to see another attacking player arrive this month, and the club have been pressing ahead with a move to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Lucas Moura before Wednesday’s transfer deadline.
The Daily Mail reported just days ago that Spurs have shown Moura around their training ground ahead of a possible move, and Pochettino’s hopes of bringing him in appear to have been boosted.
Moura was left out of the PSG squad which travelled to take on Montpellier on Saturday evening, as the Brazilian missed a 4-0 win for Unai Emery’s side, hinting that a move may be on the cards.
Moura hasn’t started a single league or Champions League game this season, meaning his lack of participation maybe isn’t a huge surprise, but not even travelling with the squad suggests that he may be on his way.
However, The Telegraph report that a deal is far from being done, and there are lingering doubts over whether a £22million deal will be done before Wednesday’s deadline.
After 18 goals in all competitions last season, Moura has been pushed down the PSG pecking order by Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, but may now move on to seek first-team football with Spurs as the North London side attempt to rush through a deal in the coming days.
