Paris Saint-Germain believe they may have a secret weapon in the race to sign Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

PSG have joined Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester United in the pursuit of Alderweireld, reports the Telegraph, with contract talks between Spurs and the defender having stalled.

The 29-year-old is about to enter the final year of his current deal and although there is the option of a one-year extension, that would also activate a £25m release clause.

It means that Tottenham could be prepared to cash in on Alderweireld at the end of this season and would be willing to sell for around £40m.
