PSG could reportedly move to sign rumoured Arsenal target Pau Torres if the French giants miss out on Milan Skriniar, who is wanted by Tottenham ahead of the January window.

According to L’Equipe via PSG Talk, Torres has emerged as a target for Christophe Galtier’s side this January, with the Villarreal star and Inter Milan’s Skriniar, a favourite of Antonio Conte’s, on the Parisian side’s radar as the Ligue 1 champions look to add to their centre-back options.

Injuries to Sergio Ramos, Presnel Kimpembe and Danilo Pereira have stretched PSG’s options in the position greatly this campaign, and Torres could now be an option in January if the UEFA Champions League giants can win the race for the defender’s signature, with Arsenal also interested.

CaughtOffside reported last month that the Gunners were keen on signing the centre-back in the summer, alongside Chelsea and Tottenham, with the defender having a release clause of €50m (£43m). However, no club ever came close to matching Villarreal’s terms for the centre-back.

Indeed, Torres has long been viewed as one of the Spanish club’s best players, yet with La Liga form uninspiring and Unai Emery leaving the club to take over at Aston Villa, the La Roja international could view January as the perfect time to leave Castellon.

Moreover, PSG could be the perfect club for Torres to sign for, with the French side eager to find a long-term replacement for Ramos as well as a defender who has the potential to impress in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League, much to the dismay of Arsenal.

Whilst Arsenal have recently tied Gabriel Magalhaes to a new contract, there’s no denying that an extra defender would be suitable for the Gunners in January. Yet with PSG now eyeing a move to sign Torres, the north London side could now easily miss out on the centre-back.

After all, PSG would be an incredibly appealing option for Torres given their incredible status in France and their growing reputation in Europe. And to replace a player as iconic as Ramos would be quite the alluring prospect for the Spanish international next year.
