PSG could reportedly move to sign Arsenal attacker Gabriel Martinelli in 2023 depending on the winger’s contract situation, with the Brazilian’s current deal set to expire in 2024.

According to Le 10 Sport, the French giants are keeping tabs on Martinelli, with the 21-year-old firmly on sporting director Luis Campos’ radar, with the attacker enjoying a brilliant season with Arsenal as the north London side look on track to qualify for next year’s UEFA Champions League.

With Martinelli’s deal set to expire in 2024, speculation has been rife over what lies ahead for the attacker’s future. Though based on recent comments from the South American superstar, staying with the Gunners is the most likely option for the youngster.

Hailed as an ‘oustanding’ prospect by Mikel Arteta, PSG’s interest in signing Martinelli is perhaps no real surprise given the attacker’s frightening potential. However, with the winger seemingly keen to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium, the Ligue 1 champions will seemingly fail in an attempt to bring the forward to Paris.

Moreover, with a reported wage of £90,000-a-week and Arsenal likely to increase this base salary, PSG will struggle to lure Martinelli in 2023 given that the Gunners can match almost any figure the French giants put on the table as a result of Arteta’s squad management over the years.

Indeed, Martinelli is a fan favourite at Arsenal and a talent many consider to be one of the best in all of Europe. And for PSG, they will simply stand no chance in 2023 to sign the Brazilian even if contract talks were to now, somehow, collapse between the winger and the north London club.

PSG have the financial capability to sign most players in world football, yet given the project Arteta has got going on at Arsenal, the thought of the Basque manager letting go of a star talent in Martinelli feels almost impossible, with the Brazilian continuing to improve with every game this season.

Alongside Bukayo Saka in attack and William Saliba in defender, Arsenal are building a squad for the future with some of the most exciting prospects in Europe, and Martinelli is very much part of this long-term plan based on his involvement this season and his impressive performances.
