Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva has admitted that he will now ‘pay attention’ to the rumours that Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye could be heading to his club.

The Mirror claim that the Toffees have told their 29-year-old player that only a crazy £40 million bid would make them listen to offers amid interest from the French club.

Following that speculation, European ace Silva offered his thoughts on the situation as he admitted that he ‘trusts’ the club’s board to get the job done during the transfer window.

“I don’t know them too well but we’ll try to pay attention now that we know the situation,” said Silva, as quoted by Goal. “But I do know that they have the quality to play in Paris and they will be welcome if they arrive.

“We haven’t spoken about it between ourselves in the squad, but we trust Antero [Henrique, sporting director], Maxwell and the president too.”

Defensive midfielder Gueye moved to Goodison Park from Aston Villa in 2016 following their relegation to the Championship.

During that time, he has been a key player, particularly from a defensive standpoint, in the middle of the park for the Merseyside club.

Over the course of this season, Gueye has played 19 Premier League matches for Marco Silva’s side as they sit in the top 10 of the Premier League table.

If the Senegal international were to make the switch to France then he would join a team that is cruising at the top of the Ligue 1 table.

PSG, who have two games in hand on their rivals, are 13 points clear of second-placed Lille and are yet to taste defeat from their 18 league matches this season.
