Newcastle United are reportedly set to bring young defender Moussa Sissako to the Premier League from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.

According to the Northern Echo, the Tottenham star’s near namesake is apparently set to follow in his footsteps by swapping French football for life on Tyneside.
18-year-old Sissako has been told that he has no future at Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle are now in talks about what could prove to be a bargain £2 million deal for the young defender.
But considering that the teenager has never made a Ligue 1 appearance for PSG, there is not much for Newcastle fans to get excited about.
Apart from quotes from PSG’s reserve coach Francois Rodrigues of course.
“(Sissako) is a player who has a big margin of progression. (He is) more elegant (but) he is also very aggressive on the field, even if he has not yet quite mastered this,” Rodrigues told Paris Fans last year.
“He is a very likeable boy, attentive and has a very promising future as central defender. Without offending anyone, if he was at any other club, he would already be part of the first-team.”
Rodrigues has a point. With Thiago Silva, Presnel Kimpembe, Marquinhos and Thilo Kehrer all vying for a place in Thomas Tuchel’s starting XI, Sissako was always on a hiding to nowhere trying to force his way in. PSG have also signed Abdou Diallo from Borussia Dortmund too.
Goal reported last summer that Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brighton were interested in luring Sissako to the Premier League, though his long-awaited move to English shores could be about to materialise 12 months on.
The Frenchman is very much the typical Mike Ashley signing; young, cheap and with plenty of re-sale value. And with Steve Bruce looking to use a back three on Tyneside, there should be more chances for Sissako to try and prove his worth.
