David Prutton has suggested to Sky Sports that Nottingham Forest need one more win to guarantee their place in the Championship next season.

The Reds are 15th in the Championship table at the moment with 40 points from 34 matches, 10 points above the relegation zone.

Former Forest midfielder Prutton believes that one more win will see Aitor Karanka’s side avoid the prospect of playing in the Championship next season.

Prutton told Sky Sports: “It was a massive win for Nottingham Forest at QPR last week, and to score five goals would have been a huge morale boost for Aitor Karanka and Co.

“You feel like one more win will be enough now to allay any concerns of slipping towards the bottom three.”

One more win

Forest have a good squad, and some of the results and performances of the Reds under manager Karanka have been very encouraging.

With the likes of Sunderland, Burton Albion, Birmingham City and Barnsley continuing to struggle, the Reds should be safe.

The Reds will return to action this afternoon when they take on relegation-threatened Birmingham at the City Ground in the Championship.

Karanka’s side should be able to pick up all three points from the encounter against Birmingham with ease and pull themselves further away from the drop zone.
