Wesley Fofana has told Arsenal-owned, William Saliba, on his Instagram story that he is ‘proud’ of what he is currently achieving.

Whilst Saliba waits for his first senior Arsenal cap, the 21-year-old has been called up for his national side and will be hoping to make his France debut this week.

Two friendly games await the World Champions, so there is every chance the 21-year-old will don the colours of his country for the first time.

Didier Deschamps’s side will host the Ivory Coast on Friday, before doing the same against South Africa.

Nonetheless, this was the message Leicester’s very own ball-playing centre-back sent to Saliba, who is thriving out on-loan at Marseille this season.

“On the field, no need to talk we are going to war together,” said Fofana. “Proud of you, it’s just the beginning. Inshallah.”

It has been nearly three years since Arsenal paid Saint-Etienne £27 million (Sky Sports) for a fresh-faced teenager in Saliba.

Many have questioned the road Mikel Arteta has taken the Frenchman down and why he hasn’t donned Arsenal colours yet.

But, fast forward to today and Arteta’s call to take his time with the centre-back, just like he has done with Gabriel Martinelli, is proving to be a wise move.

Ben White and Gabriel are the dons at the back for Arsenal, for the thriving to be backed by Saliba next season will make the north London club’s ever-improving backline even more impressive.
