Dejan Lovren has stated on Instagram that he is ‘proud’ of Mohamed Salah’s achievements after he reached 100 Premier League goals for Liverpool on Saturday.
The flying winger achieved the feat during Liverpool’s 3-3 draw against Brentford.
Lovren shared a WhatsApp message with Salah, where he labelled the player ‘unbelievable’ and questioned whether he or Cristiano Ronaldo will come out on top in the race for the Golden Boot.
Last season, it was Harry Kane who pipped Salah to that prize, but this season, the Tottenham man has fallen off a cliff.
And whilst it’s early days, he may not even be in that race for top-scorer if he continues in his current ways.
But that doesn’t mean that the competition to be the top marksman this season hasn’t increased.
Added with Ronaldo, another hitman has returned to English shores in Romelu Lukaku, who has also got off to a bright start.
The above duo didn’t score over the weekend, but Ronaldo has three in three, whilst Lukaku has netted the same amount in five league matches.
It’s West Ham’s Michail Antonio who is sitting top of the pile, after his late winner at Elland Road over the weekend, he has now scored five goals this season.
That’s joint with Salah and Leicester City’s speed machine, Jamie Vardy, who is showing no signs of slowing down.
