Arsenal central defender Rob Holding will join Newcastle United this week, according to The Times.
It has been reported that Holding – described as “a proper talent” by former Gunners star Ray Parlour in Football.London in June 2020, – will move to Newcastle from Premier League rivals Arsenal on a season-long loan deal early this week.
Good decision?
Holding is a very good central defender who has been unlucky with injury problems during his time at Arsenal so far.
With the Gunners recently signing Gabriel from Lille, it is going to be even harder for the 24-year-old to get regular playing time at the Emirates Stadium this season.
Newcastle are a big and ambitious club, and at St. James’ Park, the English centre-back will get more playing time that he will at the Emirates Stadium.
Stats
According to WhoScored, Holding made six starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal last season.
The 24-year-old also played thrice in the Europa League and made two starts and three substitute appearances in the FA Cup for the Gunners, according to WhoScored.
