Tottenham Hotspur blew Liverpool away at Wembley Stadium this afternoon, hammering Jurgen Klopp’s men 5-2 in a superb performance.
Spurs went into the game having picked up a valiant 1-1 draw against Real Madrid in the Champions League, and produced a stunning display to sweep Liverpool aside.
Harry Kane latched onto Kieran Trippier’s early ball forward before rounding Simon Mignolet and finding the net, and Son Heung-min quickly made it 2-0, converting Kane’s superb cross.

Whilst Mohamed Salah pulled one back for Liverpool, Dele Alli restored Tottenham’s two-goal advantage before half time, and Kane sealed a 4-1 win with a close-range finish in the second half.
Tottenham have now moved level on points with Manchester United, but remain five points shy of league leaders Manchester City, with Mauricio Pochettino now focused on chasing down Pep Guardiola’s men.
Spurs had a number of impressive performers on the day, but forward Son Heung-min enjoyed a particularly impressive day, posing a constant threat on the counter-attack.

The South Korean’s pace and movement made him a constant menace to the Liverpool defence, and whilst he scored once, he could have had a hat-trick having hit the crossbar and also failed to generate enough power on a shot at goal.
Fans took to Twitter during and after the game to praise Son, calling him ‘unplayable’ when in such great form, adding that he is ‘a proper player’ who keeps working hard even when he isn’t in the team, and fans are glad that he stayed to fight for his place in 2016.
