Jack Collison has praised West Ham United youngster Conor Coventry on Twitter.

The former West Ham midfielder has stated that Coventry is a “proper player” while responding to his stats with the Republic of Ireland Under-21 side.

One for the future

Coventry is only 20 years of age, and the midfielder is still raw and developing as a footballer.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has not made his debut in the Premier League yet, and it will be interesting to see if he gets any playing time for David Moyes’s first team this season.

The 20-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Lincoln City, and one suspects that the youngster will want to get more competitive football.

West Ham have traditionally given chances to promising young players coming through the academy, and Coventry will get his chance in the Premier League at some point.

Meanwhile, Carlton Cole has reacted on Twitter to Josh Cullen’s message to West Ham following his departure from the London club in the summer transfer window.

The midfielder joined Belgian club RSC Anderlecht on a permanent contract last week.
