West Ham United captain Mark Noble is a man under pressure.
West Ham are deep in the relegation mire and face a season-long battle to secure survival.
Homegrown Hammer and captain Mark Noble has seen his star fade with the club’s fans over the last 18 months with his performances, like that of the team, well below par on the pitch.
Just two wins from the first 12 games of the Premier League season has seen Slaven Bilic sacked and replaced by David Moyes.
But it was the same old story in Moyes’ first game in charge as he watched his side put in a shoddy performance to lose 2-0 to Watford last time out.
Noble was poor once again as were the majority of his teammates.
But now his former teammate turned West Ham youth coach Jack Collison has spoken out in defence of Noble’s dedication to the club.
“Proper club captain (is) Mark Noble,” Collison said on Twitter.
“Watching the under 15s tonight in action against Chelsea under the lights. Means the world to the boys.”
The tweet was well received by supporters many of whom still back Noble to continue as captain and help turn things around.
But there is no getting away from the fact West Ham have it all to do to avoid the disaster of relegation in their new 60,000 seater stadium.
In truth the blame lies as much with West Ham’s dreadful recruitment over the past year than anything else with nowhere near enough quality brought in during the summer, particularly in central midfield and defence.
