A West Ham United fan who went viral for an angry rant after watching his side get knocked out of Europe has been left red-faced.

West Ham United are enduring a torrid season with fingers being pointed in all directions.

Slaven Bilic‘s side have lost eight of their opening 13 Premier League matches and look set for an unexpected relegation battle.

Fans have been at each other’s throats over issues at their new 60,000 seater Olympic Stadium home and a toxic atmosphere is starting to fester at West Ham as fans grow increasingly fed up.

The Hammers were also dumped out of the Europa League by Romanian side Astra Giurgiu for the second season running back in August.

At the time the result saw West Ham labelled a laughing stock with rival fans and pundits poking fun at their exit to a club deemed Europa League minnows.

One West Ham fan even went viral for his angry foul-mouthed post match YouTube rant about Astra where he referred to them as ‘a bunch of Romanian farmers’ who he felt his side should have steamrolled – as reported by the likes of the Express.

Well pundits and that fan, and many more besides him, have been left somewhat red-faced this evening after Astra held Italian giants Roma to 0-0 draw to qualify for the knockout stages of the Europe League.

Astra join the likes of Roma, Zenit St Petersburg, St Etienne, Anderlecht, Olympiacos, Athletic Bilbao, Ajax, Shaktar Donestk, Schalke, Fiorentina and Manchester United in the last 32.

While the news doesn’t change much for West Ham, it does give their season some perspective with many pointing to that defeat as the catalyst for their fall from grace.

It also goes to show how crucial it is to get it right in the transfer market with the Hammers widely considered to have done some of the worst business in their history during the summer.
