Tottenham Hotspur teenager Kazaiah Sterling made his first appearance of the season at the weekend for the under-23s.

Sterling, 19, has been regarded as one of Tottenham’s most promising young strikers for a couple of seasons now but has not yet made the step up.

The teenager had not been involved at all this season due to injury, prior to this week.

Sterling featured for Spurs in their win over Leicester City and provided the assist for in form Jack Roles to score a late winner.

Sterling has 12 goals in 30 appearances for the under-23s.

He featured for England’s under-18 side a couple of years ago but has fallen off the international radar since.

His performance was praised by under-23 coach Wayne Burnett, who told the club website: “Kaz worked tirelessly. It’s going to take him a while to get back into the groove.”

It was a little exchange of passes with Roles which led to the late winner with the Spurs duo showing composure at a key moment in the game.

Whether Sterling will get a chance to feature in the first team this season remains a long shot, so a loan spell may be best for him.

But after missing time through injury Spurs may want to keep him close at hand. Wherever he plays, Sterling will want to hit the goals to start catching the eye. An assist in his comeback was not a bad start.
