After the success of Moussa Dembele, Celtic are reportedly eyeing another of Europe’s top young strikers.

Instead of raiding Fulham, this one is an altogether more ambitious move, on Real Madrid.

The Sun report Celtic are eyeing Spanish prospect Dani Gomez, who is impressing for their B team.

Gomez is highly rated, described by OK Diario earlier this season as ‘a shark who scores goals’.

The 18-year-old striker netted four times in the UEFA Youth League this season, including goals in the semi-final, quarter-final, and last 16.

The teenager has excellent pedigree, finishing as top scorer for Real Madrid at earlier youth levels, and this season earning a call up to the Spain under-19 squad.

Real Madrid’s first team of superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Alvaro Morata and Karim Benzema makes it tough for Gomez to get a crack at the first team, let alone a sustained run.

He is in a different situation to Dembele, but his motivation to sign for Celtic should be the same – play regularly at a competitive level and make his mark.

Dembele certainly did that this season, inspiring Celtic to an unbeaten campaign and scoring prolifically in the process.

His form has raised it’s own questions about whether Celtic will cash in. If they do, then Gomez could be a bargain replacement who could enjoy similar levels of success.
