Former Arsenal manager Unai Emery gave his backing to reported Gunners target Alphonse Areola during his time at Paris Saint-Germain.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal are keen on signing Areola.
The 27-year-old is currently on loan at Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain.

His future in the French capital is in doubt, and Mundo Deportivo claims he is a target for Premier League club Arsenal who are on the lookout for a new shot-stopper this summer.
Areola has had a tricky last two years. But, during Unai Emery’s spell in the French capital, he received plenty of support from the former Arsenal boss.
“My opinion has not changed, he has progressed and has grown at Paris Saint-Germain. He is very involved in the first-team. He can develop and become more involved, but I’m very happy with and I believe the club are too. I don’t know what will happen next year, but it is true he has progressed a lot,” Emery said in 2018, quoted by Parisfans.
Areola was a regular under Emery at PSG. He made 42 appearances in the 2017-18 campaign and won two international caps with France.
But he lost his place last term. This season, Areola has spent the majority of the campaign as understudy to Thibaut Courtois on loan at Real Madrid, making just three appearances.
Arsenal have a regular number one in Bernd Leno.
Beyond the German, however, the Gunners lack solid competition and manager Mikel Arteta may feel his side will benefit from another option.
Areola could be a good opportunity and you would think the Frenchman has the best part of his career still to come.
