Reported Leeds United, West Ham and Southampton target Mikkel Damsgaard is a prodigious talent, according to Sampdoria coach Claudio Ranieri.
The former Chelsea, Roma, Juventus and, of course, Leicester City boss has worked with some of the most exciting attackers in modern football history during his storied managerial career, from Francesco Totti to Riyad Mahrez.
So 20-year-old Damsgaard couldn’t wish for a better coach as he looks to build on a superb debut season at Sampdoria.
The Daily Star reports Leeds, West Ham and Southampton have all expressed an interest in the £15 million-rated Denmark international, who shot to fame with a stunning assist against Inter Milan in January.
And while Ranieri will do his best to ensure Damsgaard doesn’t get carried away with the eyes of the world firmly fixed on him, the veteran tactician knows he has a special talent at his disposal.
“In my view, Damsgaard is an enfant prodige,” Ranieri explains, via SosFanta. “He must be managed quietly without burdening him with too many responsibilities.”

With two goals and four assists in Serie A already, Sampdoria look destined to make a major profit on the “infant prodigy” snapped up on a bargain deal from Nordsjaelland.
Tottenham are also big fans of a winger whose direct, explosive style is reminiscent of a young Son Heung-min.
Damsgaard has another firm admirer in the shape of former Spurs star and fellow Dane Christian Eriksen. Whether he follows in Eriksen’s footsteps in north London, however, remains to be seen.
