Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has said on BT Sport 1 (10:09pm, December 16, 2021) that Allan Saint-Maximin caused Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool problems at Anfield.
Liverpool got the better of Newcastle 3-1 at Anfield in the Premier League on Thursday evening.
Saint-Maximin is a winger by trade, but the 24-year-old started upfront in place of Callum Wilson.
Newcastle boss Howe believes that the Frenchman did well against Liverpool.
Howe said about Saint-Maximin on on BT Sport 1 (10:09pm, December 16, 2021): “Allan did really well on his own upfront, caused them problems as we thought he would do with his dribbling ability and pace.”

Saint-Maximin had to come off injured against Liverpool, but while he was on the pitch, he was a problem for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The 24-year-old’s pace and dribbling did cause the Liverpool defenders some problems.
However, Saint-Maximin was often quite isolated in attack and had to drop deep to get the ball.
The Newcastle winger took one shot and it was on target.
Saint-Maximin played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 66.7%, took 24 touches, attempted two dribbles, made one tackle and one interception, and put in one cross.
Given that ASM is not a natural striker and does not often to play upfront on his own, we have to say that he did well for Liverpool against Newcastle.
