Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte has said that Eric Dier did not play against Brighton and Hove Albion at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium due to injury, as quoted in Football.London.
Conte’s Tottenham got the better of Brighton 3-1 at home in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday evening.
England international striker Harry Kane scored two goals for the North London club.
Davinson Sanchez, Cristian Romero and Ben Davies were the three central defenders for Tottenham.
Dier, who can also play as a midfielder, did not feature.
And after the match, Conte said that the England international, who has been playing as a defender, was injured on Friday.

Conte told Football.London: “It was a pity for Eric Dier because yesterday he had a little problem and the medical department decided not to take a risk.”

Making a quick comeback
Tottenham fans will hope that Dier returns to action soon.
From Conte’s comments, it seems that the injury that the 28-year-old suffered is not serious.
Romero is now back from a spell on the sidelines, and, in our view, Dier and Davies should be his partners in a three-man backline.
Tottenham are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season, and Conte needs someone as good and as important as Dier to be fit.
