Jack Wilshere has told talkSPORT that Mikel Arteta will lose his job at Arsenal if they don’t get into the top-six next season.
The free agent claimed that Arsenal are ‘about £200 million’ off challenging for the Premier League title.
But whilst Arsenal supporters can only dream of those past glory days again, their first task is getting back into Europe.
And Wilshere shared that Arteta won’t be in a job if the signs aren’t positive for the club next season.
“They can’t finish eighth again,” said Wilshere. “So, better you would say is seventh. But they don’t have Europe and they haven’t had that in years.
On what Arteta needs to do to keep his job: “Get into the top six. I can’t say out (if he doesn’t get top six). But probably, yes, out,” laughed Wilshere.
On how far are Arsenal in challenging for the PL: “Probably about £200 million off.”

Arteta is probably lucky that he wasn’t handed his P45 last season because there were several occasions last season when supporters wanted him out.
Arsenal went through a difficult winter period, including worries at one point that they were in a possible relegation dogfight.
Things picked up in the Premier League as the second half of the campaign kicked in, but not in the Europa League.
Getting knocked out of the Europa League to the man that he replaced in the Emirates dugout was perhaps the biggest sign that Arteta’s time was up.
But those upstairs have stuck by him and now the pressure will be really on his shoulders ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
