Speaking on Tottenham Fan Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel, The Sun’s chief sports writer, Martin Lipton, has been discussing Tottenham’s hunt for a new centre-back.
It’s something of an open secret that Tottenham want a new left-sided defender this summer to act as an upgrade on Ben Davies, and they have been linked to almost every quality centre-back in Europe.
Indeed, Spurs have been linked with almost every left-footer under the sun at this point, but according to Lipton, the two that seem to be the most likely to join are Alessandro Bastoni and Pau Torres.
The journalist states that one of those two will probably end up at Spurs, but it may well end up being neither player.
What’s been said?
Lipton spoke about Bastoni and Torres being the two most likely defenders to join.
“I think it will probably be one of Bastoni or Pau Torres as the most likely, but it could be neither of them, in which case, you go with one of the other two that are on the list,” Lipton said.

Might be Torres
Lipton says that Bastoni and Torres are the two most likely, but we’re going to go one further and say that Pau Torres seems the most likely at this point.
Indeed, Bastoni’s agent has quashed any speculation about the Italian leaving Inter, while Milan Skriniar looks to be on his way out of San Siro, so it’s unlikely that I Nerazzuri will sell their two star defenders in the same window.
According to Alasdair Gold, Torres is the next defender on Spurs’ list, and he may well be the player that Tottenham end up going for.
