Speaking to West Ham’s official club website, Nikola Vlasic has been waxing-lyrical about Michail Antonio.
Nikola Vlasic is West Ham’s newest signing, and it’s fair to say he’s excited about linking up with some of his new teammates at the London Stadium.
The Croatia international is particularly excited to play with some of the Hammers’ brilliant attacking talent, reserving special praise for Antonio.
What’s been said?
Vlasic had nothing but good things to say about West Ham’s attackers, in particular, Antonio.
“You know, I see these players – Saïd, Fornals and Bowen – and they’re really similar, and Michail is a beast and what he’s done over the last year and a half is amazing,” Vlasic said.
“I think he’s probably in the top three strikers in the Premier League. The whole team is really solid in midfield and defence and I think we can do great things.”
One of the best
Naming Antonio as one of the three best strikers in the league is a bold claim, but it’s one we can get on board with.
Think about it, who is he competing with right now? Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku are probably better, but you could easily make a case for Antonio being superior to the likes of Jamie Vardy, Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Danny Ings at this moment in time – just look at the Premier League’s scoring charts.
Antonio could get even better once he links up with Vlasic, and if he keeps up the form he’s shown so far this season, the Hammers could be challenging for a spot in the top four once again.
