Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has suggested to Football London that Tanguy Ndombele will ‘probably’ play tonight, for the first time since the Premier League restarted.
Tottenham are due to take on Sheffield United, as they look to close the gap on the top four.
Mourinho has almost a fully fit squad to pick from, which leaves him with some selection dilemmas all over the pitch.
The Portuguese boss still needs to settle on a midfield combination, with many Spurs supporters hoping that Ndombele will be given a chance.
Tottenham’s record signing has not been seen on the pitch since the return of football.
But Mourinho has hinted that the Frenchman’s chance is definitely coming, and that far too much is being made of his omission from Spurs’s team so far.
“I hope that next season that we have even more top players on the bench because it means that we want to be bigger than where we are now so when a top player is on the bench it doesn’t mean there’s a story behind it. It means that there’s lots of other options,” he said.
“The other day, when I played Sissoko and Lo Celso in midfield, there is no drama that Winks is not playing, no drama that Ndombele is not playing, no drama that Lamela is not playing.

“That’s the life in big clubs. No problem with Tanguy, no problem with Tanguy. He’s in a big club where he has to compete with other guys.
“He’s an option for me, a very good player who will probably be playing tomorrow, will probably be playing the next match. There is no problem, there is no story. We are a big club with a squad full of very talented players.”
Ndombele has endured a difficult first season at Tottenham, where he has failed to prove his fitness.
The 23-year-old has suffered badly with injury and when he has been available he hasn’t always convinced.
That being said, Ndombele’s ability in possession has already been clear to see – and if the Spurs midfielder can start showing more desire off the ball then he could still turn into a hugely important player for Mourinho’s men.
