Speaking on Last Word on Spurs, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Tottenham Hotspur’s January transfer plans and reports of a move for Marcus Edwards.
Record recently reported that Spurs have made contact about a move for the promising winger, and while Edwards says that Spurs are fans of their former academy talent, he says a move may not be likely.
Indeed, the journalist says that a move for Sporting’s Pedro Porro is Tottenham’s priority over Edwards at the moment, and that may put them at a disadvantage in the race to sign the Englishman this month.
Jacobs says that Sporting will not be pressured into selling Edwards if they receive a big fee for Porro, and therefore, a deal is unlikely this month.

Spurs prioritising Porro over Edwards
Jacobs shared what he knows about this situation.
“We know that Tottenham like Marcus Edwards, it’s as simple as that. It would be a re-signing,” Jacobs said.
“Not only does Edwards have a history with Spurs, but there’s the ability to play as an attacking midfielder and a winger. There is substance in that sense, but my understanding is that there won’t be any kind of link here between Edwards and Porro. Porro is release-clause only and unfortunately for Sprus if they get Porro they will have a scenario where Sporting can do what they want.
“I wouldn’t paint it as either or, from Spurs’ perspective if they could get two deals done for good value they would look to move, but it will be difficult to get both in the same window. Tottenham’s priority is Pedro Porro.”
Right priority
Spurs have gotten plenty wrong in the past, but it seems as though they have their priorities right here.
Indeed, bolstering the defence is much more important that adding to the attacking ranks in north London at this moment in time.
Spurs are scoring at a decent rate. Harry Kane is in red-hot form, but they can’t keep the ball out of the net at the other end.
Right wing-back is one of the big problem areas at the back, and signing a player like Porro, who has been described as ‘electrifying’ would go some way towards rectifying that situation.
