Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli certainly impressed against Chelsea on Saturday night.
The Gunners recorded a 3-1 win over Frank Lampard’s side at the Emirates Stadium and although Martinelli wasn’t among the goals, he was absolutely electric at times.
The 19-year-old had a stormer in what was his first Premier League start for Arsenal in 10 months.
From the first minute, Martinelli looked intent on making up for lost time and Chelsea right-back Reece James had a difficult time against him, by virtue of the fact that the Brazilian teenager isn’t a traditional wide player and often moved centrally.
And suffice to say that fans of the Stamford Bridge club were very impressed by the starlet.
On days like this, it’s amazing how Arsenal paid only £6 million for Martinelli.
At his age, the young lad is going to be worth an absolute bomb if he continues to develop in this way and there’s big pressure on Mikel Arteta too.
Martinelli played better last night than Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has played all season, in terms of all-round performance, and it’s vital that the Spanish coach manages him right.
Remember, he’s only back from a six-month layoff, so Arteta just can’t afford to make him do too much too soon.
