Speaking on his podcast, Ian Wright has been discussing Everton and their current plight as they fight against relegation.
The Toffees are having a torrid time at the moment and if they don’t change things soon, they could be relegated.
So often a team in this situation is saved by a bit of individual brilliance. Look at how Jack Grealish saved Aston Villa back in 2019/20 or Joe Willock at Newcastle last term.
Wright believes that Everton may have that player in the shape of Demarai Gray, stating that the Englishman has the ability to turn a game around singlehandedly.
What’s been said?
“Look at someone like Andros Townsend, Demarai Gray, unfortunately, he started very well but he’s injured at the moment. He’s got the game and the Je ne sais quoi where he can flip a game on its head. He did it to us at Everton when we went there and they beat us. He turned into prime Ronaldinho off the wing, he’s got that in him,” Wright said.

Needs to come back
Everton need to get Gray back into the team as quickly as possible, but as Wright says, he’s sadly injured at the moment.
The winger has the ability to transform this team’s fortunes with his skill and flair, and at the start of the season, Everton were flying high without Gray.
However, while Gray’s return would be welcomed, Everton do have other players who should be able to step up and make the difference. Richarlison, Dele Alli and Dominic Calvert-Lewin should all be doing more.
