Southampton fans were wowed by Cedric Soares’ performance after he helped Arsenal record a 3-1 win at St Mary’s on Tuesday night.
It’s been a year since Cedric switched the South Coast for North London, and whilst it hasn’t worked out for him during that time, he put in his best performance in an Arsenal shirt against his former club yesterday.
From the perspective of the Southampton fans, they felt that this is the best they have seen Cedric play and it had to be against them rather for them.
The balance Cedric showed on the left-hand side would have pleased the Arsenal faithful, as his cross-field ball for Bukayo Saka in the second half resulted in the best goal of the game being scored.
When Southampton allowed Cedric to leave for Arsenal, it didn’t worry their fans much because they didn’t think they were losing an important player.
But going by yesterday’s performance, if Cedric can keep that up then Mikel Arteta has a pretty valuable versatile defender to choose from, who can do the business whether he plays him at right or left-back.
