Celtic wanted Martin Odegaard back in 2015, but were unable to bring the Real Madrid man to Glasgow.

Celtic may benefit from attempting to sign Real Madrid sensation Martin Odegaard once again this summer.

Celtic were linked with a move for Odegaard back in 2015 (Daily Express), but the Bhoys failed to get a deal over the line.

At the time, Odegaard’s potential arrival in Glasgow caused great excitement – as the youngster has a huge reputation.

The Norwegian is considered to be one of the most exciting teenage talents in European football.

However, his career at Madrid has stalled in recent times, and a move to new surroundings could be exactly what the youngster needs.

Odegaard has, somewhat unsurprisingly, found it difficult to break into Madrid’s first-team – which is littered with big name stars.

And a loan move to Heerenveen has been of mixed success over the past campaign.

Odegaard made 14 appearances in the Dutch top flight, but only contributed one assist.

Madrid may be looking to shift Odegaard out again next season, to gain further experience, and a switch to Celtic could suit all parties.

Celtic appear to be aiming to strengthen their creative ranks this summer, with Brendan Rodgers chasing an attacking midfielder.

And if Rodgers could unlock Odegaard’s potential, like he has with many of Celtic’s current youngsters, then the Bhoys could have one of the most dangerous prospects in Europe in their ranks, if they make a move for the 18-year-old.
