Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has told Leeds Live that he does not know when Pascal Struijk will be back in action.

Bielsa has said that Struijk will not play for Leeds in the Premier League game against Manchester City away from home at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Tuesday evening.

The Leeds boss has said that he has been shocked by the injury suffered by the 22-year-old central defender, who picked it last week in training.

Marcelo Bielsa on Leeds United’s Pascal Struijk

Bielsa told Leeds Live about Struijk: “Yes, he’s not going to be available. Pascal’s injury is not very frequent. An explosive movement made two bones in his feet collide together.

“That does not generate an injury, nor an articulation or muscular. It has the effect of a knock on his bone. That generates pain.

“Until that pain disappears it’s going to prevent him from playing. Sincerely, in my whole career, I have never seen an injury like that.

“The same as Rodrigo’s injury, in his heel. Only disappears if the pain disappears. I have not seen in many years. Specialists say very few cases in a year.”

Staying positive

In our opinion, Struijk, Bielsa and Leeds fans should stay positive.

The 22-year-old, who can also operate as a midfielder, is a very good and promising young player.

Now, Leeds have had injury problems this season, and it must really affect Bielsa’s plans.

However, for now, there is nothing much that Bielsa, Leeds or Struijk can do.

The best thing to do now is for everyone to stay positive.

Leeds are going to find it tough in the next few weeks.

After facing Manchester City on Tuesday, the Whites will take on Arsenal at Elland Road and then Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League.
