Rangers should make move for Michel Preud’homme favourite, Brandon Mechele, who Celtic once tried to sign.

If Michel Preud’homme is successful in his application for the Rangers job then defender Brandon Mechele should be his top priority.
Preud’homme has experience managing Club Brugge and during this time he blocked advances from Celtic to sign star defender Brandon Mechele.

The Express reported in 2015 that Mechele was a target for Celtic boss at the time Ronny Deila.
Mechele remains with Club Brugge and continues to play a key role for the club.
The 24-year-old centre-back has made 12 appearances in the Jupiler League this season, scoring twice.

The centre of defence is an area Rangers need to strengthen in, with Bruno Alves who turns 36 next month merely a stop gap.
Mechele is at a good age, and has worked successfully under Preud’homme. Normally he would be out of Rangers’ grasp, but with the Belgian coach at the helm, he could be persuaded.
The defender has experience playing in both the Champions League and Europa League and he could become a key player for the Gers.
Bringing him in could help transform Rangers and show they are buying players with top level experience who are the right age, but it would depend entirely on Preud’homme.
