Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club announced that Manny Perez had joined Portland Timbers on a one-year contract.

Celtic signed Perez from North Carolina in January 2019, before loaning him back to the United States so he could continue his development.

Sadly for the 22-year-old, he was never able to obtain a work permit to play in Glasgow, as he told the Scottish Sun.

In fairness, Celtic presumably weren’t aware of how difficult it would be to secure a work permit for Perez.

However, it can still go down as a failure in the market.

Now, Perez has returned to the States permanently, and Celtic supporters have been left in confusion over why the deal ever happened in the first place.

One supporter said the club adopts a ‘very strange transfer policy’ while another echoed that thought.
