Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has admitted that Micky van de Ven looks to have picked up a ‘significant’ injury.
Micky van de Ven faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury in Tottenham’s 4-1 defeat to Chelsea.
That is according to Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou, who was speaking to Football London after the final whistle.
This was frankly one of the most bonkers games of football in recent Premier League history, from disallowed goals to red cards and, sadly, a few injuries.
Tottenham were on the receiving end of most of those, losing Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie to red cards with both James Maddison and Van de Ven going off injured.
Ange Postecoglou comments on Micky van de Ven injury
Tottenham had to play most of the second half with nine men, battling admirably before conceding three goals in the last 25 minutes to lose 4-1.
Spurs have finally lost their unbeaten record this season but few could have predicted the run ending in this fashion.
The defeat doesn’t even feel like the worst part of it – it’s more that some players will miss upcoming games with suspension or injury.
Van de Ven looks like being the big miss as he pulled up with a hamstring injury in the first half and was immediately hooked.
The Dutchman has been sensational this season but now faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines according to Postecoglou.
Postecoglou spoke to Football London and suggested that Van de Ven’s injury already looks like a ‘pretty significant one’ even at this early stage.
“With Micky it’s a pretty significant one,” said Postecoglou.

Tottenham now face major defensive issues after Van de Ven injury
Tottenham were always taking a risky approach at the back when they sold Davinson Sanchez to Galatasaray in September.
The Colombian maybe not have been in the long-term plans, but his exit left Spurs with three senior centre backs – Romero, Van de Ven and Eric Dier.
Injuries or suspension were always likely to happen and now here we are, both Romero and Van de Ven are out.
That means Dier may need to play with Ben Davies at centre back, with Emerson Royal filling in at left back in place of Udogie.
Youngsters Alfie Dorrington and Ashley Phillips are options too but throwing them in would be bold at this stage in their development.
