Sean Goss has been a tremendous addition on loan for Rangers since signing, exceeding expectations.

Many felt he was just signing for Rangers to make up the numbers, and could not hold down a place in the Light Blues side.

He has over performed so far, causing hopes to rise, perhaps too highly.

Rangers fans had big hopes for Goss ahead of the Celtic clash, that he would finally become the midfielder who could outperform Scott Brown.

Against Celtic he came up short, and was substituted off on 70 minutes.

Goss wilted amid the fierce competitiveness of the game, unable to keep up with Olivier Ntcham and Scott Brown.

The stage was set for Goss to continue his development but as it stands, he is so far just another pretender.

Fans had spent the past month raving about his performances, but the game at Ibrox yesterday shows he needs to step it up another level if he is really the answer for the Gers.

Rangers have another opportunity against Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final in mid-April.

Goss has to prove between now and then that he is worthy of a starting place.
