If Leeds United want a proven Championship goalscorer, surely Preston North End hitman Jordan Hugill will be on their radar again.

Preston North End might just have pulled off one of the best deals of the January transfer window – in the middle of December.
As reported by the Scottish Sun, the Lilywhites have agreed to sign Motherwell striker Louis Moult for a cut-price deal of just £450,000 with the 25-year-old set to move to Deepdale on January 1st.
Needless to say, this is not bad value for the top scorer in Scottish football this season. What this means for the future of Preston’s current first choice centre-forward, however, remains to be seen.

Interestingly, the Lancashire Telegraph states that Preston had identified Moult as a potential replacement for Jordan Hugill back in the summer, when the strapping frontman was attracting interest from a number of Championship rivals.
And while Alex Neil’s side ideally see Moult as competition for Hugill rather than a replacement, the report adds that the Middlesbrough-born targetman could still be sold if a reasonable offer arrives on the table.
With the January window just a fortnight away, time will tell whether Hugill is still a man in demand. According to the Birmingham Mail, Leeds United were interested in the striker this summer after he scored 12 goals in a fine breakthrough season in 2016/17.

And with The Whites in need of a proven Championship goalscorer, who unlike their summer signings has shown he can score at a reliable rate in the second tier, Hugill may once again be on their radar despite finding goals harder to come by in 2017/18.
Preston now have a ready-made replacement on board in the shape of Moult – which Leeds may be hoping makes a deal for Hugill just that little bit easier.
