Newcastle United are said to be keen on Preston North End defender Ben Davies, with Steve Bruce a big fan.
Preston North End fans really do not want Ben Davies signing for Newcastle United.
According to The Sun, Steve Bruce has made Davies one of his first transfer targets at Newcastle.
The centre-back has caught the eye at Preston, where he has become one of the finest defenders in the Championship.
Bruce is said to have been very impressed with Davies, and Newcastle could now make a bid for the Preston man.
However, North End fans are urging the club to reject any bids, as they really don’t want Newcastle buying the 23-year-old from them.
Preston have already lost Callum Robinson this summer, so will not want to lose another of their key players.
If Davies was to move to Newcastle he would face fierce competition for a place in their starting line-up.
Newcastle are well stocked at centre-back, with Jamaal Lascelles, Florian Lejeune, Fabian Schar and Federico Fernandez already at the club.
