Preston North End beat Rotherham United 3-1 on Saturday afternoon, with Everton loanee Aiden McGeady starring.

Preston North End continued their impressive recent form as they hammered Rotherham United 3-1 away from home on Saturday afternoon.

Before losing 2-1 to Newcastle United at the end of last month, had gone six unbeaten with just four points dropped in those games – and they got back to winning ways on Saturday.

Simon Grayson’s men were in complete control throughout as Jordan Hugill headed home Greg Cunningham’s cross to make it 1-0, before Callum Robinson nodded Aiden McGeady’s cross into the net before half time.

Rotherham did pull one back through Richard Wood’s header, but Marnick Vermijl tapped home at the back post from Daniel Johnson’s ball in to give Preston a 3-1 victory.

Whilst it was a fine team performance from North End, one player has earned huge praise, with winger McGeady being hailed for his performance at the New York Stadium.

The Irishman, 30, is currently on a season-long loan deal at Deepdale having joined from Everton on deadline day back in August, and whilst he was largely criticised for his performances at Goodison Park, he has been earning rave reviews at Preston.

The Championship side confirmed on their official Twitter account that McGeady was voted Man of the Match for Saturday’s win over Rotherham with a staggering 70% of the vote, whilst the EFL included him in their Team of the Week too.

After Saturday’s game, Preston fans took to Twitter to comment on McGeady, and raved about his performance, claiming he was ‘different class’ whilst even suggesting he’s one of the best players to play for the club in recent memory – words that may stun Everton fans.
