Fleetwood Town’s Ashley Hunter is attracting attention with his recent performances.

A trio of clubs have enquired after Fleetwood Town striker Ashley Hunter, HITC Sport understands.

Hunter scored in Fleetwood’s Johnstone Paint Trophy semi-final defeat to Barnsley last Thursday evening, a match they lost on penalties.

Barnsley are one of the teams who have subsequently enquired after Hunter, impressed with his display against them.

The 20-year-old has also attracted contact from Championship clubs MK Dons and Preston North End.

Hunter’s contract is up in the summer and he will be a free agent, with Fleetwood yet to offer him a new deal.

The former Burton Albion trainee played well again at the weekend against Shrewsbury Town, a 0-0 draw, with watching scouts in attendance.

Hunter has scored five goals in 12 appearances this season for Fleetwood, for who he signed from non-league Ilkeston in January 2015.

Fleetwood Town are currently battling against relegation from League One, presently in the relegation zone in 21st place.
