Preston North End have been in talks with former Norwich City manager Alex Neil.
Norwich City’s former manager could be walking straight back into the Championship only five months after being sacked by the Canaries. Alex Neil is the name at the top of the wish list for the Preston North End owner – Trevor Hemmings, according to the Sun.

Hemmings wants a quick replacement for Simon Grayson, who left to join Sunderland last week, and Alex Neil is viewed as the right candidate, having guided Norwich to the Premier League in 2015.
While no official announcement is expected until mid-week, say Sky Sports, Alex Neil will relish the chance to have another go at trying to get a club promoted to the Premier League, having told the Eastern Daily Press last May that he had “unfinished business” following his sacking at Norwich City.
Alex Neil, 36, knows the Championship very well and has always pushed for promotion with Norwich City. Even when Neil lost his position at Norwich, they were in eighth place in the Championship.
Preston North End have found it hard to be competitive at the top end of this league and will be relying on Neil’s experience to put the foundations in place for a team that can challenge for the play-offs or better.
Preston have already made four signings this summer, in goalkeeper Declan Rudd, full back Kevin O’Connor, playmaker Josh Harrop and striker Sean Maguire. Alex Neil will need to act fast to bring in some experienced players as well. He’ll need to give the club some momentum in the next campaign and may well have some targets now that are also on Norwich City’s list.
