Leeds United got the better of Preston in the Championship after a second half brace from Patrick Bamford.
The win lifts Leeds back ahead of Sheffield United and into second place.
Former Leeds United midfielder Andrew Hughes gave his thoughts on the result to BBC Radio Leeds.
He said: “From start to finish it was absolutely top class. Bamford led from the front. I didn’t have any worry today about the result.
“Leeds are near the top of the league for a reason and you saw why tonight.
“I’m absolutely delighted for him (Bamford), the manager, the team, and the fans tonight.”
The first half was particularly nervous for both sides with neither able to make the breakthrough.
A red card for Ben Pearson early in the second half tipped the game in Leeds’ favour.
Patrick Bamford had been under pressure after missing chances in Leeds’ defeat to Birmingham City at the weekend.
He showed resilience to bounce back by scoring twice in the second half to give Leeds all three points.
Now the Whites must hope Sheffield United fail to win away to Birmingham tomorrow night.
