Reagan Thomson is apparently a target for Scottish Premiership rivals Celtic and Rangers, plus Premier League outfit Newcastle United.
Celtic, Rangers and Newcastle United are all apparently interested in signing Reagan Thomson and Queens Park president Gerry Crawley has admitted to the Sunday Post (3 November, page 24, pull-out) that he is aware of interest in the club’s prized asset.
For all the problems in Scottish football right now, there is no shortage of exciting creative midfielders emerging north of the border right now with teenager Thomson the latest to catch the eye.
According to the Daily Record, Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers are both keen to lure the talented playmaker to Glasgow while Newcastle United, who are apparently willing to pay a ‘substantial’ fee, are leading the race.
It seems only a matter of time before Thomson bids farewell to Queens Park, who are stuck in the middle of the fourth-tier, with Crawley confirming that there is plenty of interested suitors.
“We know that Reagan is being watched by a lot of teams, some of those in England,” said the club president, stopping short of mentioning Newcastle by name.
“We are aware of the speculation but to date no offers have been made for his services.”
That could change soon, however, with the January transfer window looming large on the horizon. As it stands, Newcastle appears to be Thomson’s most likely destination with the rapid rise of Longstaff brothers Sean and Matty proving that there is a pathway to the first-team at St James’ Park.
