It says a lot about the mood at Anfield currently that Liverpool’s tweet about Diogo Jota’s comeback has just caused worry among supporters.
Liverpool are celebrating the return of Jota to training, and they seemed keen to make sure supporters were aware that the Portuguese international was fit, as they published photos of him on the training ground.
However, Liverpool fans feel that the club is simply giving them the good news to try and soften an impending blow.
Reports in the Athletic this morning have suggested that Jordan Henderson’s injury is worse than first feared.
And Liverpool fans feel that the club is now trying to boost their mood, before confirming the blow later today.
Henderson is due for scans today, but suggestions are that he could be out for longer than the six weeks which were originally predicted.
Henderson’s absence would be a major blow, as it would reduce Liverpool’s defensive options even further and take more experience away from them.
Jota’s return, though, is at least something to be pleased with, as he should inject some spark into an attack which has performed well below par of late.
