Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are about to make a new bid for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber.

The Italian journalist has claimed that Arsenal are preparing their second bid for Ajax and Netherlands international defender Jurrien Timber.

The 22-year-old £65,000-a-week (SalarySport) defender himself wants to make the move to the North London club in the summer transfer window.

Romano has added that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has personally approved the club’s quest to bring Timber, who can operate as a centre-back or as a right-back, to the Emirates Stadium.

Exciting update for Arsenal fans

In our view, Fabrizio Romano’s latest update on Jurrien Timber is very encouraging for Arsenal fans.

It suggests that the Gunners are really determined to get a deal done for Timber in the summer transfer window.

And that the Netherlands international defender himself is keen on a move to Arsenal means that it will be easier for the Premier League club to negotiate with Ajax.

The Ajax no. 2 scored two goals and gave two assists in 34 Eredivisie matches last season.

Timber also made six appearances in the UEFA Champions League and played twice in the UEFA Europa League for Ajax last season.
